The Manual Handling Operations Regulations

The manual handling operations regulations came into force on the 1st January 1993. Manual handling is the movement of loads by human effort, as opposed to mechanical handling, i.e. lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling or carrying or moving of a load by hand or bodily force. A load includes a person.
